Next month I get
the genuine pleasure of attending a childhood friend's wedding in the Big City. If you're a regular reader you know that normally I enjoy weddings about
as much as I enjoy being water-boarded. However, I am really excited to go to B’s wedding. Some of my first “growing-up” memories include B. She was the only
other I girl I knew whose mother would not allow her to watch The Titanic when it
came out. Meanie parents. But then a stroke of luck occurred, and on a flight
overseas, what should come on the big screen? Yup, the very forbidden Titanic. Since B's parents
couldn’t very well blindfold her for 13 hours, she was allowed to watch it.
Upon her arrival home and armed with our parent's permission, we spent a
sleepless night watching Leo and Kate declare their undying (or in Leo’s case,
dying) love. Ah, the memories.
ANYWAY, back to B's wedding. I’m so happy for her and I can’t wait to meet her
very lucky husband-to-be. The invitation says “Black Tie Optional” which means I get
to go shopping. Since you are reading Buckaroo Barbie I’m going to assume
that’s what you are: a woman who spends most of her time in the great outdoors,
be that on the back of a horse, running up a mountain or chasing huge waves and
90% of your wardrobe is either jeans and boots or work out gear. Which means
that you probably spend most of your time like I do; with dirt under your fingernails, tangles in
your hair and not dressing for black tie events. In that case, here is the Buckaroo Barbie's Guide to a Black Tie Wedding.
Black Tie Wedding Guidelines
A Black Tie event
is always held in the evening. Women wear floor length gowns, the men wear
tux’s and basically everyone looks so beautiful it hurts. If you need to brush
up on your wedding etiquette, read THIS post by Emily Post. Black Tie optional
is just that; it’s appropriate to dress according to Black Tie or if that won’t
work for the guest, to dress in fancy cocktail attire. Now that we Buckaroo
Barbies have gone over the guidelines for a Black Tie wedding, here are some
dresses I’ve been lusting after. Stay tuned to see what I end up with!
