Art For The Brave

This morning on our Facebook page, I shared a picture of a wrist tattoo and people liked it more than I expected!! I know "body art" and tattoos can be a controversial subject for some, what's your take on it? How many of you Dolls have one? Gents, is it a turn on or a turn off when you see a girl with a tattoo??

I don't have any, but I've wanted to get one, off and on, since I was 19 years old. I want to get a sister tattoo with Adrian, but she says she agrees with Kim Kardashian and you don't put a bumper sticker on a Bentley!!! So I guess that idea is out of the question!

I'm pretty sure if I ever manned up and got one, I would faint! Hahaha Whatever your view on tattoos, yea or nay, these are cool pictures!

  1. Liz I love tattoos!!! I have quite a few. All of them are in places that don't have to be seen by anyone. That being said go for it. I would recommend that you think hard about where and what you get. Everything I have has meaning. Ink can be very beautiful if it is done right.

  2. I have 7 and my husband has 3. There are times I love them and times I hate them. They're hardly ever visible to the public, though. I think that was a good move on my part.

  3. I say go for it. I've been trying to decide if I want to get a tattoo or not for the past couple of years. Several of my friends have recently got them. I would like one either on my wrist or shoulder. But if i got one it would be in a place that I could cover up for work. I think they let you express yourself in a unique way.

  4. Oh thanks for the advice girls!! I've never even noticed that you had any, Rachael!!!! I like the thought if I ever got one that it wouldn't necessarily have to be advertised....but that being said I love the wrist tattoos!!

Randi, that's interesting you go through times when you like them and when you don't....us humans are such fickle creatures!! LOL If you don't mind me asking, do you and your husband have any for each other? My grandpa got my grandmas name tattooed over his heart and I always thought that was so sweet :)

  5. I have several too Liz. But they all are generally covered. Something possesed me to get a latin saying down my side. Im such a wimp, but have tattoos in some of the most painful spots! I love my foot tattoo that matches my best friends. I've always wanted one on my wrist, that was how the one on my side came about. Its a lot harder to hide a wrist one. I love those pictures!!!!!

  6. You can "test out" a tattoo by drawing what you want on your body with a permanent marker. After looking at that for a day or two, it'll help you decide :) I did that, then went and got a cross made out of nails tattooed on my hip the next day. 7 years later and I still love it!

  7. I think that if there is one that you LOVE... go for it. I like to think of them as a form of expression so get something that means something to you. There are a lot of beautiful girls that we have all seen before in hollywood that have tattoos and are still just as beautiful with them as they were without them (Bentleys) ;) ex. Megan Fox, Angelina Jolee, Hayden Panettiere -

    1. I would only get something that means a great deal to me, and I've always wanted to get something for A....but truthfully I'm also really scared of it hurting!! Hahahahaha

    2. It is more of an irritating feeling rather than hurting.... Rope burn hurts worseif that helps put it in perspective haha

    3. WHAT?!?! See, I think we have different pain thresholds!! Cuz all the rope burns I've been involved in have been way more than irritating!! LOL

  8. I have played with the idea. I love looking at them on pinterest and stuff. Some are very stunning. Tattoos are interesting, intriguing. However, I agree with the "don't put a bumper sticker on a Bentley," idea.

  9. I love a tasteful, well-placed tattoo! I have three, two of which nobody is going to see unless I want them to see 'em. In my eyes, they're a very personal thing and I got mine (words) to carry me through the day as reminders.

Let us know if you get one! All of the ones you've posted are beautiful. I'm especially in love with the compass, but would never have the guts to get one on my wrist (I bet I'd faint!)

  10. I agree with Adrian. No offense meant to anyone that has them, but I don't care for them.

    1. I don't think anyone would take offense....I think that's what's so cool about tattoos is they're so personal to each person.
There's been basically two reasons I haven't gotten a tattoo yet: one, I'm scared it's gonna hurt too badly and two, I'm one of the only people I know my age that doesn't have one. It kinda makes me different and I always wonder if after 6 months go by, if I'll regret it?!?! Ahh, who knows! :) Lol and I love how opinionated my sister is on the subject lol

  11. Liz, I have the brand my great grandpa gave to me when he passed away. I tease and say I keep it there for a reference when I'm using a running iron! I'd probably have more but there isn't anything else I can think of yet that means enough. I've never had regret about mine, but I think that is the key: it has to have meaning that won't change.

    1. Oh Mesa, that is so sweet! That is really special...and hysterical that you say that LOL I so agree and it seems that everyone who DOESN"T regret having a tattoo, is because it means something to them. :) Is yours on your wrist?

  12. Liz, I have 3 small ones (went through a rockabilly phase in my early 20s, think cherries and nautical stars) all in places you can't see. I don't regret them, but I too have moments when I don't care for them too much. But then i will forget I have them...it's weird. Ad in the same breath there's a part of me that wants more. I think they're a great way to commemorate people and times in your life.

  13. Hi Liz,
I have 3 small ones from the rockabilly phase of my early 20s (think cherries and nautical stars). All are in places not easily visible.. I never "regret" them but I do occasioally sort of wish I hadn't gotten them. Sometimes I forget that I have them. And in the same breath I sometimes think of getting another. Pretty conflicting, huh? I do think that they are a nice and individual way of commemorating people or times in your life. I think if you have an idea for one you keep going back to, go for it. And maybe put it somewhere that you Can show people If you want to.

  14. Almost everyone I know that has gotten a tattoo say that they almost immediately want more! How funny! And I love everyone's feedback, thanks for sharing, Heather! Oh and....love rockabilly! I bet yours are awesome! :)

  15. I think something thats every bit as important as What you get, is Who you have do it! Most tattoo artists around will do whatever you ask, without telling you about the after effects. Like if it's going to stay, or how it will look over a scar, or the colors blending right. Or going too deep. Its SO important to have a Good tattoo guy! Or girl. I used an old guy in CO that was pretty hardcore looking. He used to paint Harleys, make signs, and even tooled a couple saddles! He was good, and fair, and super honest. So make sure if you do, that that's something you research a lot. My friends used a guy we all liked, and they kinda look crappy now, and they're only 2 years old.

  16. I've got a bareback bronc and rider and it's not your typical bronc pic, reminds me to never give up. and a tribal tat, my way of saying there's calm in the storm, it's up to you to find it.
