Can you remember being shook gently awake by your mom and bundled up in layers until you couldn't hardly move, the feeling of cold morning air biting your cheeks?
Can you remember the pride you felt in "helping" your dad gather cows, the conspiracy of not telling mom that you heard him yelling at those black bitches?
Can you remember the feeling of hanging from your saddle strings, legs pummeling the air and occasionally connecting with the underside of your horses belly as you tried to reach the stirrups that seemed impossibly high over your head?
Do you remember the irritation of having to feed your bottle calves/4H lambs before breakfast while your town friends got to sleep in on the weekends?
Can you remember the sheer freedom and happiness you felt running your horse hell bent for election when no one was looking?
Yeah? Me too.....here's to the ranch kids.
