I dream about him and the heady feeling of movement after being bedridden for so long. He helped save me. Why do cowboys become so attached to certain horses? I can't stop wondering if it's because the nature of our work is so physically dangerous. You don't think about it much, but if your bud gets in a bad way during a branding, gathering, doctoring outside, he...your horse, or you could potentially die, at the least get broke up pretty bad. Maybe never ride again. Is that what creates the bond? Knowing that he trusts you and you're trusting him??? I dunno, I just know that he helped me walk again and I hope the grass is belly deep wherever he is now....thank you Bert. #fatalbert #hegavemelegs
