I’ve been dying to make these for the longest time.
Whiskey Sours sound like a cowboy kind of drink to me, but in
a “dressed-up-for-town” sort of way.
They’re easy to make and you probably have all the
ingredients in your cabinet. I adapted the recipe from Martha Stewart’sversion, and omitted the things I didn’t think normal people had on hand all
time, like bitters or kirsch. Whatever the heck those are.
½ cup fine sugar, more for glass rims.
1 ¾ cups whiskey
1 cup lemon juice
Handful of ice cubes, plus more for glasses
Cherries, lemon peels and mint all for garnish
Combine whiskey, sugar, lemon juice, and ice cubes in a
pitcher (or a saucepan like I did) and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Rub glass rims with lemon wedge and dip rims in sugar. Add
lemon peel and ice cubs to glass and pour your Lemon Whiskey Sour into a glass.
Add cherries and mint for garnish if you’re trying to impress someone.
Enjoy!
Also, I would highly suggest eating with this particular cocktail, or you will be more than tipsy.
*Adrian and I would both like to take a minute and say that
if you are underage or just not into drinking….don’t drink!
We have both gone through years where we have not had a single drink and you
shouldn’t feel like you have to in order to “fit in” or be cool, whatever the
heck that means. When we go out and we’re not drinking, we quietly order a 7-Up and cranberry juice. That way our friends don’t feel like we’re no fun and
we have something to sip on. Stand for what you believe in, no matter what.

DeleteThis sounds amazing and I don't even like Whiskey. What a terrible thing for a cowgirl to say, right?
ReplyDeletebahahaha No it's not terrible, you like what you like!! I enjoyed it for the first half and then it was a little sweet for me!
DeleteI'm kind of a vodka martini/dry wine kinda gal myself. I'm not really in to super sweet stuff. :-)
