Hopeful Mornings & Homework

Oh what a day!!

When I woke up this morning I dreamed lofty dreams about all the things I would get done: I would build a frame to stretch a hide on, I would stretch said hide, I'd ride my horse, shoot a little, get ALL my math homework done and maybe even mop the floor of my bunkhouse. Sounds like a good day, right? This is what I actually got done: Math homework, math homework, math homework, math homework, hauled some wood, fed the horses, roped the dummy and now I'm doing MORE math homework!!

Life is like that sometimes though, right? You lay your carefully crafted plans and they disappear with the wind. I think if I'm going to enjoy life and not go absolutely bonkers (wait, I already am...) being continuously chained to my homework, I'm going to have to start waking up super early again and getting work done in the wee hours so I can enjoy the rest of the day. The whole of the year is stretching out in front of me and I intend to enjoy it! There is so much I want to accomplish before 2013 chimes its last breath and I know with some hard work, determination and carefully planned goals, I'll get there.

I'm not going to lie to you, the last couple years or so I've gotten really lazy with sleeping in. When I was in high school I used to bounce out of bed with a smile on my face at 3am, reveling in the quietness that allowed me the time to get my school work done before the other work of the day was begun. I don't really bounce any more. In fact, last spring I literally FELL out of bed...but I was in Italy and had drank some grappa the night before, so maybe the grappa had more to do with the falling rather than the early hour. Hmm.....good point, Liz.

Anyway, back to the point at hand: I'm going to write my to-do list tonight (an attainable to-do list, by the way!), set out my clothes so the cold morning air doesn't discourage me and set my alarm for 5am! See you in the morning, Dolls and Gents!!

What time do you guys normally wake up? And if you have any tips for me, please comment below and share!

Cute little daffodils I found when I roped the dummy this evening...so pretty!

  1. You are on the right track! I love having a to do list, but I always add just a little more than what is comfortable. "Shoot for the moon and even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars."

I think I get it from my mums, she always makes an impossible list, I've got to learn to be reasonable! :)

  3. I often have that problem of putting things off or not even doing them. Last June I started working nights (10pm-6am) which meant I sleeep durring the day. It has been kind of hard on me because there are so many things I want to do or people want me to do durring the day but I end up sleeping instead. What has helped me though is making lists! I love making lists and especially for my homework assignments. My computer has a sticky notes thing I can put on my desktop and I write out when each assignment is due or anything I need to get done so I don't forget them. It really helped me not to fall behind in college or forget special dates.

    1. Ugh, my good friend is an ER nurse who permanently works nights Erin, and it sounds EXHAUSTING!!! You have an amazing attitude, good for you! I love making lists too!! They save my life!! I'm just now learning to use the "notes" app on my iphone, maybe I can learn to use the sticky notes on my computer next! :)

  4. My alarm goes off with good intentions at 6:00 a.m.
Our house is chilly and it’s so dark in the morning, I struggle with rolling out of bed – by 6:45 which rushes me every time to get to work on time.
Heck even our dog has been sleeping in – he used to bark at 6:15 for attention now it’s on the shady side of 7:00.

I have vision of me in thermals running in the wee hours of the morning but it hasn’t happened yet. I chalk it up to the winter blues and the bleh of January.

    1. Hehehehe I love that phrase Elizabeth!! "My alarm goes off with good intentions." Oh the winter blues....I totally intended on going for a run this morning but opted to sit in front of the fire place and drink coffee with my mums instead! LOL

  5. I get up at 5:30 go to the gym to start my day then work on some homework then off to classes I go. My trick is to have my coffee pot ready to just turn on and make the night before set out my clothes and everything I will need to do homework and for my classes also the night before that way your not trying to find things while your still waking up I find that discouraging. Those are my helpful hints for early morning wake ups
