We
work hard to disown the parts of our lives that were painful, difficult, or
sad. But just as we can’t rip chapters out of a book and expect the story to
still make sense, so we cannot rip chapters out of our past and expect our
lives to still make sense. Keep every chapter of your life intact, and keep on
turning the pages. Sooner or later you’ll understand why every scene, every
chapter was needed.

Liz, your timing is perfect (as usual.) I had a less than strong hour last night as Chris and I discussed this very thing; you can suppress or disown things in your past that make you feel uncomfortable and essentially disown who you were at one point OR you can keep those pages whole, highlight the lessons and make them part of your growth/story.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful quote and a reassuring one.

It's harder to keep the bad with the good, but I agree with you, ultimately it's part of who we are and we can't change that. :) Glad you liked it!
